Leg pain that occurs upon standing and is relieved by lying down is a symptom that may be associated with various conditions affecting blood circulation or the spinal structure.

Peripheral vascular disease (PVD)

Leg pain when walking or standing, relieved by rest, weak or absent pulse in the limbs.

Abnormal ankle-brachial index (ABI), arterial Doppler, angiography.

Vertebral disc prolapse

Leg pain radiating from the lower back, worsens when standing or walking, improves when lying down, numbness, weakness.

Spinal MRI, electromyography (EMG).
